Feniska is a pet health tech startup offering a smart scale placed under the litter box to track a cat’s weight, toilet habits, and detect early signs of health issues.

Deliver fast yet reliable health insights using GenAI by estimating BCS (1 = underweight to 9 = overweight) and cat attributes through a simple image scan. I designed a clear, engaging flow to make scanning effortless and boost user engagement.
research.
I started by researching UI patterns from apps with scanning features and analyzing direct competitors in the pet tech space to understand common flows and user expectations. Based on Feniska’s needs, I defined the essential pages and interactions, then created wireframes tailored to our context. After several design critiques and discussions with the dev team to align on technical constraints, the final design was approved and implemented.

The launch of the BCS Scan feature contributed to a significant boost in user satisfaction: CSAT rose from 60% to 90%. Alongside a streamlined onboarding process and improved usability, the app saw a 36% increase in new users and a 12.5% growth rate.
To support this, we also introduced an in-app feedback rating for the feature. I redesigned the feedback page, which led to a 30% increase in overall CSAT. While several UI improvements contributed to this, the BCS Scan stood out as a highly engaging feature, offering more than just weight tracking and deepening user trust in the app’s value.

Designing user flows is more than creating a linear path; it requires a comprehensive approach that considers the full user context. For this feature, I accounted not only for the main flow but also for necessary supporting pages—like clear instructions for accurate cat positioning and robust handling of error cases such as poor image quality or connectivity problems. Addressing these edge cases upfront ensures a reliable and smooth user experience. This project reinforced the importance of thinking beyond basic flows to build a truly user-centered design.
